Jia Nan Yuan (sometimes written Jianan Yuan) is a Chinese-French table tennis player, born on 11 July 1985 in Zhengzhou1 (province of Henan). Originally from China, she became a naturalised French citizen in 2011.

It operates in the French Pro A table tennis championship in the Poitiers2.

Career

Yuan is classified no 4 French in 2019. She played in Pro A with Saint-Berthevin3.

She won the French Table Tennis Championships in singles in 2012 , 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021.

At the European pre-Olympic tournament in April 2021, it qualified for the Olympic Football Tournament. Tokyo Olympic Games4.

She won bronze at the 2020 European Table Tennis Championships (played in 2021) in mixed doubles with Emmanuel Lebesson5 and in the women's doubles with Stéphanie Loeuillette6. Lebesson and Yuan are also finalists in the WTT tournament in Qatar.

In 2021 she reached the semi-finals of the mixed doubles of the Tokyo Olympic Gamesassociated with Emmanuel Lebesson7. The pair also lost the bronze medal match, finishing in third place. 4e of the Games.

With Pauline Chasselin, Prithika Pavade and Audrey ZarifShe was then part of France's bronze medal-winning team at the World Cup. European Table Tennis Championships in October 2021 at ClujEurope's first women's podium since 19628. In December 2021, she won her sixth French singles title, equalling Claude Bergeret and Anne Boileauwith the record number of successes remaining at eight9.

In August 2022, she won the European championship mixed doubles with Emmanuel Lebesson against the Romanian duo Ovidiu Ionescu-Bernadette Szőcsafter defeating the Slovakian duo in the previous round Barbora Balážová (de)-Ľubomír Pištej10,11.

With her, the French women's team finished third in the European team championships in September 202312.

Style of play

Her game is characterised by her extremely high service delivery. She uses the weight of the ball to impose a great deal of spin when putting the ball into play, which makes it easier to negotiate the game by taking the initiative at pace. She plays with a soft forehand that allows her to hit the ball hard, even very hard.
